Despite four hours of constant rain, Justin, Janine, Kelly and I had a great time at Burien's Strawberry Festival today. Thanks to Gina Kallman, the Recreation Supervisor, who invited us, ensured that we had a tent and table ready, and posted us next to a perfect outcropping of walls. (Even wet, this concrete was sticky!) We happily--and soggily--proceeded to discover this environment through play, explaining to the interested why we were doing so. And there certainly was interest! From those who'd heard of it, to those who hadn't, we had a constant flow of engaged onlookers. From event staff--volunteers, security, and coordinators--to the passers-by asking questions, everyone that we spoke with were upbeat and pleasant, no matter that hoods were drawn and umbrellas unfurled. It was an all-around perfect opportunity to show-by-doing how parkour is just about moving in your environment, no matter what, and having fun doing it.
